A Brave Space

Attention all men of the Triangle area of

North Carolina who have survived violence:

This group is for YOU.

Men are not socialized to express their feelings and emotions or

see themselves as victims. A lot of men do not even realize they

are being abused or may try to deal with the abuse on their

own because they don't want to be seen as weak.

We want you to know that identifying as a survivor is a strength,

and we want to provide a safe space for you to connect

with others and heal together.

When it comes to sexual assault and or domestic violence, women tend to have a bigger support system than men. Typically, it's easier for individuals that identify as women to reach out for resources such as women's circles, spiritual leaders, or families for help.

It's not so simple for individuals that identify as men. If a man speaks out about being a victim of violence, he's likely to feel embarrassed and worried that people won't believe him. When a man has the courage to speak out about being a victim of violence, he's often met with shame and fear that his story won't be taken seriously.

A Brave Space is a peer support group for men who identify as survivors of sexual assault and or domestic violence who dare to be vulnerable. A Brave Space is a group where survivors can come together in a safe and non-judgmental haven to share their stories and find healing.

The group will be on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month for 10 weeks beginning July 20th, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

The aim of this support group is to:

  • Foster community among male survivors

  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for men to share openly and without judgment

  • Cultivate feelings of safety, connection, and validation

  • Enhance the emotional and mental well-being of survivors

  • Provide resources, referrals, and support to assist in the healing process

Join our community and feel supported as you navigate your journey toward healing and recovery.
